Epidemic Outbreaks in the Philippines

Second half of February, 2007: Mumps (Parotiditis)

Mumps or Parotiditis is infecto-contagious and "epidemic" and we have just seen today (Feb. 17) some cases in the slam areas.

Adults who haven't passed Mumps before, specially males, should try to avoid close contact with school-age children for 1 month - as Mumps can result in "Orchitis", a sort of destruction of the testicles, giving rise to sterility in males (alone).

Feb.-Mar. 2008: Thypoid Fever
